Deceptive CD rate 5% APY Internet

I cold kick myself. I thought it was my own stupidity that got me into this, but then I read Report: #384963 and I thought, OMG!!! It sounds almost exactly like what happened to me!

I too applied for a 5% CD with Washington Mutual in early October. It took almost two weeks for the small deposits to show up. I verified the small deposits to my external funding account. I called up the same day and was told I had verified. I called a week later and was told I had not verified. When my funds finally were transferred, after four phone calls, I was shocked to see the 3% rate. I called and they said that their on-screen terms (i.E. Fine print) indicate that the rate applied for is only good if the account is funded within 7 days, but it took them three weeks to do the transfer. Washington Mutual customer service was just kept repeating that there was nothing they could do.
