Providian - Informed me that the derogatory issue on my report will always be there

I called Midland Credit Mgm to ask about a defrogatory issue they have on my credit report, it is an old account from Providian who sold my account to another agency "Presidio C/M". Both Providian and Presidio has closed out the account, however, Midland informed me that they have a way to make sure a negative item will always stay on the report. They sell your account just prior to it being removed, so it becomes new every time, therefor always showing a new account becoming delinquent. I was informed that this item will never go away. This item became past due and then was closed when I became disabled and hd a long period of waiting befor disability payment began. No excuse but I wont allow my credit report held hostage or blackmailed by this kind of tactic. They are reporting on account that has already been charged off by the original holder, Providian back in 6 years ago but now shows it as being only 1 year old.
