I applied for an at home job w/these people. They advertised needing someone to do data entry, processing orders for products their clients sell on websites and entering the data into a "specialized" software pckg that they send you.
To "weed out only the serious" job seekers, you have to send them a one time fee of 54.00. When they recieve and cash your check then they will send out your training materials, w-4 and I-9 and health and dental info.
They say many, many times in the correspondance you recieve before you get your employee packet and software that, "You are an employee, and will not partake in any form of advertising, recruiting of employees or selling merchandise of any kind". It even says that in the contract you sign.
The first section of the employee packet says, "you will recieve orders from clients that YOU get by PLACING ADS" In section 2 it says, "When we recieve a response to your ad, and they become part of the LEP, Inc team and send in their fee you will be notified you have an order"."Then you send them the programs on the CD-ROM you recieved w/the software, training materials and Contract" So, in fact, they lied until they got my money, the job is selling, advertising and recruiting. And the special software was a word processing software, that sucked, and was un-needed because I have a word processing package of my own.
I wrote them several nasty letters and never recieved a reply. I lost 54.00 I really didn't have, sent my SS# to them on the contract, my address, everything. This was in Sept. So far my identity hasn't been stolen but that doesn't mean it won't happen on down the line.
I would be willing to take action against these people; I searched for months upon months looking for an at home job that sounded legitimate. I kept copy's of all correspondance w/them and of the contract, etc for proof.
