Calls me when they are not even open for business! Norfolk Virginia

I've been receiving phone calls from this company on my home phone. We just moved here so I assume that they are calling on the debt belonging to another party.
They generally call after their own business hours, and they often call after 9:00 pm. An automated voice tells me to please call and provides a #. I call and am told by another automated voice that the office is closed and that I cannot leave a message in the general mail box.
I have only been able to talk to an associate one time. I gave them my phone number and they denied that they had ever called me! I refused to give further information. The associate said that without my full SSN she couldn't look up "my" file.
I declared bankruptcy in 2002 and have kept my nose spotlessly clean since then. I learned my lesson and am greatful that I was given a second chance, I will not blow it. I even run one month ahead on my bills now.
The upshot is that if they are actually trying to reach me then they are in violation of Federal Bankruptcy laws. I kind of hope that they are trying this. After reading these reports, I want to get a little payback for everyone who has experienced FDCPA violations.
See, I used to BE a debt collector. I was an inbound collector so I only talked to customers who called in to pay. I know the FDCPA inside and out. Not only that, but I was a debt collector in the state of VA. Why is that important?
Because I know that VA is a one party notification state, meaning that only one party of a telephone conversation needs to know that it is being taped for that tape to be used in court. At the beginning of the call I will simply establish that they are in Virginia and then I will turn on my tape recorder.
It may take me some time to post an update, but I will. If it turns out that I am not the person from whom they are trying to collect, I will let you know that, too. I'll let you know how long it takes for their blasted calls to stop.
I actually get calls from other collectors looking for a man named "Dennis" so I assume he had this # before me.
If you want to know more about one party notification, you can look up the basics of the laws for your state here:
