Hiked our monthy payment to double the original amount

My husband and I purchased our home in 2001. We did not go through Homecomings Financial, but our account was sold to them. At first, this was not a problem. The problems started when we changed our address to a P.O. Box from our physical address.

For whatever reason (I never can understand the person I'm speaking with) they raised our montyly payment. Since they didn't update our address change, I didn't know that payment had increased. Our payment went from $680 to $820. I continued to make payments every month, but for the original amount. Finally, after about 4 months, I received a "foreclosure" letter. I immediately called. I explained that they had my address wrong and could we work something out. We had to pay them $1800 to get our account straightened out.

In Sept. I lost my job. We called Homecomings immediately to let them know and to try to set up arrangements. No help. We missed a couple of months, but have been making the $800 payment now consistently. They are now raising our payment to $1200. I don't understand how they think they are going to get payments from us when they continue to raise the payment.in 7 years, we have missed a couple of months of payments. Otherwise, we make the payment every month. We want to be able to pay, but our payment has now doubled and we do have other expenses. It just seems to me that they won't work with us and they want our property. I'm not sure where to go from here. We call and ask them to work with us and they tell us we need to make a payment of $3000 to get the payment to go back to $830
