Be warned!

Business & Finance

I am a local police officer in a small S.C. Town and have come across several of these letters. Be warned... This is a scam! The letter has enclosed a check in the amount of $5779.00 stating that this is to cover fee's to claim your prize and instructs you to not cash the check until you speak to a claims agent.

Once you speak to the agent, you are instructed to deposit the check into your bank and withdraw the money the following day. Then you are instructed to take the cash and purchase a Money Gram made out to the claims agent you spoke with (the one's i have seen has had Canada address's).

After you complete this, you will not be able to contact the claims agent again. The phone will be disconected or goes straight to a voice mail. The sad truth of this is by cashing this check... You are now responsible to your bank for the $5779.00 when the check is denied and sent back to your bank.

My advise to you is to contact the police if you get one of these checks in the mail. Also... Publisher's Clearing House is a real company... Not Publisher's Clearing House Inc.
