Aspire Visa
Predatory Lending Practices

Business & Finance

In the psst, I have had credit problems.initially, I was offered a credit limit of $300 with a one time processing fee of $150. I have maintained the account and over the years, they have increased my credit limit to over a $1000.in reviewing my wife's monthly statement with Aspire, I noticed that she was billed $150 annual fee. I questioned this to her and she was not aware of the increase. I immediately contacted Aspire customer service department. I was told by Robin (222865) that the $150 fee was customary even though this was not noted in the terms and conditions. I questioned her about the validity of such charges when the cardholder has not been advised. Robin's explanations were inconsistent as she attempted to justify the annual fee of $150. I asked her, again, if the annual fee would be increased over a period of time. She could not answer that question.in addition, she continued to explain that the annual fee reflects the payment history of the customer. I find this appauling and an injustice to customers who are trying to rebuild their credit. Further, she explained that she would send a copy of the terms and conditions. I feel this practice is unfair and illegal. No one should be charged a fee without notification. To me, this a violation of the "Truth and Lending Act".
