Federal Housing Aid
I almost lost my home!

Business & Finance

Like so many others, I was having financial hardship and needed help with my mortgage. I received an advertisement letter from this company and contacted them to get help on saving my home from foreclosure. The representative advised me that all I would have to pay is $799.00 and they would negotiate on my behalf to save my home from foreclosure.

The money was debited from my account immediately and I filed the necessary paperwork to allow the company to negotiate on my behalf. I was never contacted by my personal negotiator and every time I would call the company, he would be unavailable. I don't even know if he truly existed.

About a month later, I received a phone call from my mortgage company stating if I didn't do something soon, I would lose my home. I advised my mortgage company that I was working with a third party and that they should've been contacted for negotiations. The mortgage rep advised me that my account showed no such notations that my account was in negotiations.

I had to react soon, otherwise I was going to lose my home. I contacted Federal Housing Aid and again my negotiator was unavailable. I advised the sales rep that I wanted to a refund and to not bother negotiating. I was advised that I had to fill out a Refund Request and fax it in for approval of my refund.

I filled out the form and faxed it in. I had to call three times just to confirm that the form had been received and was being processed. Everytime I called, they treated me like they had never dealt with me before and I was some unheard of client. I had to re-submit my contact info everytime I would call in.

Then I had to submit proof that they debited my account for the $799.00. Then I had to call back again and another representative asked for me to submit a copy of my bank statement again showing that they debited my account. Then they would give me a date that I could expect the refund, but nothing showed up. I would call back again and I would have to start the process all over again with a new person.

The refund request states that an approval or denial will be granted in 10 business days and if approved, a refund would be received in 72 hours. After 6 weeks, I called again and the phone number would go straight to an answering machine which did not identify the business and was completely unprofessional.

I left four messages threatening that if I was not contacted by their company, I would file a fraud report with the police department. I still got no response. I had to find another contact phone number just to get back in touch with the company. I then I had to start the process all over again. This is now eight weeks later. I was given numerous excuses to why I hadn't received my check and no one could tell me what was going on.

When my refund was finally granted, they told me it would take another month for me to receive my check. I had a fit, and they finally mailed the check out that day. What should've taken 14 days at the most, took almost three months.

I was depending on these people to save my home and if my mortgage company hadn't contacted me I would be in foreclosure and homeless.
