I gave 8,626.26 to reinstate a loan after bankruptcy, they never returned my money

I gave Ameriquest money to keep a house after I had filed for bankruptcy. The home I was trying to keep was discharged in the bankruptcy, however they never reaffirmed the loan, or gave me back the money. They also didn't tell me that I couldn't or shouldn't be giving them the money because the house was included in a bankruptcy. After I found out that they shouldn't have taken the money, I tried to call them to get my money back but they would't return my calls or send me anything in the mail. They ended up taking me to court over non-payment of the house in April of not only did they get the house but they also got the bulk of what I paid them after the house went into bankruptcy. Money they shouldn't have kept in the first place. Please help.
