Capital First
Credit Card Like the Emperor's New Clothes—Doesn't Exist

Business & Finance

On or about July 23 received a call from Customer Service at Capital First that I was entitled to receive this new credit card. For a one-time fee of $29.95, I would receive a Mastercard with a $2500.00 limit. There would be a $99.95 membership fee and another $59.95. My ID number was 789456. I talked to a Sandy Jones and someone named Sylvia. I was given another ID number of 10028629. The $99.95 and $59.95 were to be charged to the card.

On July 29, my checking account was debited the $29.95. Sometime around August 8, my checking account was hit for $159.90. I called and asked Customer Service what was the problem. I told them that no where did it state that my checking account would be charged. I informed them that all charges were to be to the card. I was informed that the paperwork stated by account would be charged. The paperwork does not identify account.

If I wanted a refund, I had to send back all the materials that I had received and request a refund in writing. That's not what was in the paperwork. So I hung up the telephone.

I calmed down and said oh, well might as well get the card. I called back on August 27 and talked to Dorothy. She informed me that the card was in the mail.

I called back again in September and was told that I needed to fill out the activation form to get the card even though they had taken out all the monies. I filled the form out and mailed it on September 19.

My last call on October 21, I was told that I should receive the card that Friday but the next week at the latest. All of my latest attempts to contact the company have been met by a busy signal.
