Single mom of new baby buys gift cards to pay bills over thephone or interne. Ibought a card for 50. I tried to use it but am told the card number is invalid

I am a single mother of three boys. I work very hard for everything I have. I buy the gift cards to pay bills online and over the phone. I bought a card for 50. When i tried to use it was declined and iwas not able to pay my bill by the deadline. I tried to use the phone number provided on the card but was never able to talk to a live person. The recordeding just kept telling me the csrd was invalid. There are no options to resolve your problems and every time i called i would just be disconnected. I cant afford to just give my money away!
