When social disability comes in, take the money and run

I signed up and paid for Long Term Disability through my employment. When I did become disabled, Hartford did send payments until my Social Security Disability was approved. As soon as I received my Social Security notice, I received a letter from Hartford Claims that all back payments received from Social Security belonged to them and I was to sign the back of the check and forward it to them. And, it was a considerable sum.
The letter from them also stated that if I did not send the check to them, they would write me off their list and I would never again hear from them. Since I was young at the time, I decided to do the right thing and sent the check to them so they would continue my stipends throughout my lifetime. Big Mistake!
For the past 20 years, since I became disabled, Hartford has constantly and consistently sent letters of threatened termination of my claim.in order to qualify for Social Security Benefits, five doctors submitted medical documentation that I will never be able to work in any field again and once a year, I receive a letter of continuation of benefits from Social Security.
Hartford, on the other hand, sends out these threatening letters twice a year and even schedules doctors visits in order to discontinue my payments from them. These doctors have no knowledge of my disabilities, no copies of my medical records, no copies of any X-rays nor MRIs that have been done. They then send their opinion to Hartford and my doctors have to appeal the decisions.
This is my advice to you from experience. When you receive your Social Security Disability back check, take the money and run with it. Do not ever send it to Hartford and you will not be subject to the constant aggravation, which borders of harrassment that I am still constantly subjected to.
