James Townsend had placed an ad for an "Accounting Clerk", homebased. I responded and sent in my resume. He emailed me back and said to IM him on Yahoo. So I did. He interviewed me and everything seemed legit. He described the job in detail. My duties would be simply to prepare invoices for customers and do credit checks. He said that the job was for a new computer finance company. Pay was $20/hr. I never became suspicious until he said that a check would be arriving as an advance to cover the cost of buying accounting software. The check came via FedEx. It was in the amount of $3000 and it was drawn on a legitimate bank, however, the sender was some kind of Palestine Charity foundation.

I immediately contacted the local Sheriff's Department. The detective did some checking and the account the check was drawn on was about to be closed. I was instructed not to cash the check, which I had no intention of doing anyways. James Townsend is being investigated now. He has also placed numerous other ads for Accounting Clerk positions for several different companies.

Be wary of this person. He is associated to Crone Finance and Hype Finance. I emailed the website that I found the ad on and told them about this. They emailed me back and said that My Computer Zone was indeed a scam and that their account was closed shortly after they placed the ad.

I did give James Townsend some personal info (name, address, phone, email), but luckily my gut told me to not give my bank info or social security number. He said that I would be paid via check or direct deposit. I chose check. Hopefully my identity will be safe.
