I signed up for a 3.9% for the life of the transfer account. I knew if I ever had a late payment BANK OF AMERICA would increase the rate, so I always send my payment certified mail so I know when they received it. I have platinum credit and I have always paid my bills on time.

In November, it took the U.S. Postal Office TWO WEEKS to deliver my payment to the East Coast. This made my payment late. I talked to two different BANK OF AMERICA credit card service representatives and they both assured me that the original 3.9% offer was to be reinstated. This did not happen.

When I called and talked to a supervisor at BANK OF AMERICA credit card services, he stated that they would not reinstate this offer. He also told me that they handle each situation on a case by case basis. I told him that IF this were REALLY the truth, that my case was certainly one that needed to be addressed in a manner favorable to me.

I offered to send him my documented proof that I had in good faith, mailed my payment in plenty time. He reaffirmed that that rate would not be offered to me. Technically... Perhaps he is right. However, when a customer has proof of payment made on time, this inflexible stance will only serve to destroy this company's long term customer base over time.

In the mean time I have figured out what the phrase "we treat each situation on a case by case basis" really means. It means get rid of any account that they can that has a low rate. I am sure if my rate was 19.9% my situation may have been handled differently.

The day that I talked to the supervisor, I accepted a similar transfer offer from another company. A very reputable company, might I say. One who still believes that without the customer, the business no longer exists. The account has been opened and my BANK OF AMERICA balances will be transfered to this new company.

I have taken these actions because I refuse to do business with a company that is so strict that they will not work with their customers under ANY circumstance. I am also closing out my bank accouts with BANK OF AMERICA.

ALL OF YOU BANK OF AMERICA CUSTOMER SHOULD DO THE SAME. They need to be sent a message that WE ARE the company. Without us, they are nothing.
