The law firm of Cohen and Slamowitz withdrew $8,462.60 from my money market account on February 4. They claim that it is in payment of a Discover Card debt that occurred in 1993. The problem is, I have never used a Discover Card, never owned a Discover Credit Card, never applied for a Discover Credit Card and have never held a Discover Credit Card.

Although they had sent me many threatening letters over the years, I never received any notice of their intentions to withdraw this money, which was about to be deposited into a 529 Plan for my two children's college education.

I suspect that the account belongs to my ex-wife, but as they have ignored all of my requests for copies of bills, sales receipts and a copy of the supposed credit card application, I have no way of knowing for certain.
