Wells Fargo Absurd Check Cashing Policy

Wells Fargo has the nerve to charge for check cashing if the check is written on their bank.

Currently I am very UNDER employed living with my family and struggling. A friend of my family let me do some general cleaning in their business, and paid me with a check. I just moved to this area and so went to the bank the check was written on and was charged FIVE DOLLARS for the privilege of cashing the check.

I wish I could hire a lawyer to address the matter, as I believe that it is both immoral and unethical. I would hope that the US Banking governing body would also find this to be usury and an unjust fee. Lastly, isn't this illegal.

And if my view of this situation is just fueled by my current financial situation, isnt it illegal for them to charge to cash a check written on their bank. Not to mention that the offered to blackmail me by ONLY giving me the fee back if I opened an account with them.

Leaving the bank stunned and confused I didn't cause a ruckus or even take it up with management. But every time I reach into my pocket and I have no change for a cup of coffee or lunch while I am out job hunting I think about Wells Fargo and their extortion fee plan.
