Reporting bogus bill from 1999 and refuses to show proff

Like all the rest of you, I received this collection notice from Afni stating that I owed $313.00. When I called the collection agent, she stated that the bill is a verizon account from 1999.
When I asked her to please send proof, she, in her la di da attitude refused stating that Afni's only requirement by law is to send a letter that authorizes them to collect a debt.
She also stated, very happily I might add, that she now consideres this account open, unless I wanted to pay.
Unfortuanately for me this is not the first time this has happened. Another collection agency attempted to do the same 3 years ago and reported me to one of the 3 credit agencies. I eventually had it removed, however it's not an easy thing. SO HERE I GO AGAIN!
I'm on board if anyone is considering a class action!
