Just Bizarre - But True

I moved about 2 years ago in with a friend as a roommate, or really a tenant since he has the lease. I only met him about 4 years ago, so I don't know about his debts, I don't care really. He has a ground telephone line here, I don't. For the record I am not listed on this ground line (I have a cell phone).

About 6 months ago NAFS started calling him about something. On my days off I was answering their automated calls upwards of 15-20 times a day even when I called them back and told them his cell-phone number and how to reach him (he told me to do that). However, when they got him he just cursed them out and hung up (or so he says). So, they were getting annoyed. So, they went back to calling me on the ground line on my days off. This was live people now and WOW were they abusive.

They were calling me every name in the book - w*e, ignorant, deadbeat you name it. I told them that I was sorry and that I could not control him, that they would have to speak to him, and here was his cell number. I was foolish enough to give them my name, to show that I wasn't his wife!

Then (and here's where it starts getting bizarre) they began calling a dozen times a day saying Mrs. (roommate) as if to catch me out or something. I patiently said that I was not his wife that there was no Mrs Rommate and here's his other number. My days off were becoming a living hell. Then the operator began calling and saying (as if for another audience I guess their tape recorder) This is the fiane right? Again, I say no over and over again over multiple calls that no I am not his fiance.

Then the calls stopped. I thought nothing of it. I figured that my roommate sorted them out finally he is not a person that you can talk to about things much.

Then and this is really bizarre I got a debt collection letter here from them made out to ME! The calls have resumed on the ground line (where by the way I have never been listed). It's hard to tell who they are for, because they don't say anyone's name just the ominous We have a serious matter blah, blah blah

I don't recognize the creditor on the letter, someone called Pinnacle Credit Services and apparently also someone called Beneficial Credit. I have never heard of these companies.

I sent them a dispute letter by certified mail, but how strange is this?

Anyone ever heard of anything like this?

The automated calls now start at 9:01am and go every 15 minutes.

I am logging calls before I leave for work.

What else should I do?
