I am a HVAC contractor. Leaders contacted me about getting a credit account so my customers could use their credit card to pay for my services. I told Leaders from the begining that when someone purchases a furnace and air conditioner, the cost could be up to $5,000 so they gave me a maximum ticket limit of $5,000. The cost would be 1.64%, or 4.99% if the card was not swiped.
They had me set up with a portable terminal where I could swipe the card and store it. I would then have to come back to my office enter it. They also gave me a phone number for terminal support if I had any problems.
The first 9 months I didn't use the account because all of my customers paid by check or cash. The service charge was $10.00, reasonable I thought.
In October I had a $1,200 transaction and the customer paid by credit card. I swiped the card and had difficulty storing it. I used my cell phone and called for terminal support. The end result was that support services told me I couldn't store it, that I would have to manually enter the card number, and get charged 4.99%. They said I could talk with the accounts people and discuss the charge with them.indeed, I have been charged the higher percent, although the problem was with Leaders and not me.
Just last Saturday, November 3, I had a $3,200 transaction. I was able to plug my terminal into a phone line and swipe the card. I then batched it and thought everything was OK. This week I received a phone call and was told I went over my $500 single limit. This limit is news to me! It is nowhere in my contract. I had to e-mail Leaders a copy of my invoice for their approval.
Leaders now tells me they won't approve the transaction because my invoice states that the furnace and air conditioner is warranted for 5 years, and they will only honor a 6 month warranty. The HVAC manufacturer is the one that is providing the warranty.
I called Dani Reed from Leaders who signed me up with this account. She said she would check into it and get back with me. I did not hear from her so I tried to call several times and was always told she was "on another line" or "out to lunch". At this time, I have still not heard from Leaders with any resolution.
Now I am not credited the $3,200, and have to go back to my customer and attempt to make other arrangements for payment. Additionally, I was charged the 4.99% charge on the $1,200 account.
Beware! Leaders called us day and night when they wanted our business. Now that I need to talk to them, no one is available!
