They won't close a fraudulent account!

Back in July of this year, I was the victim of identity theft. The thief tried to open a Best Buy card, but couldn't. However, they were successful opening a Sam's Club Discover card in my name to the tune of $2K. Luckily, the idiot theif was dumb enough to get his picture taken and put on the back of the card.

You'd think this would be an open and shut case of fraud right? The police officer who filed the report and looked at the card thought so, but apparently GE Financial doesn't. I've gone back and forth with them since July to get the account closed so it can be removed from my credit report.

When I initially reported the fraud, they seemed very helpful and willing to take care of the account. After filling out all the necessary forms and faxing the information back, I still received a bill 2 months later. I came to find out later they denied my claim. Supposedly they didn't receive all the docments they asked for.

When I called to dispute that I hadn't sent all the documents, I was told everything was okay, and they sent the letter in error. Lo and behold, I get a shiny new credit card in the mail yesterday. How incompentant are these people!?!?

When I called, needless to say livid at this point, I was told they in fact had denied my claim. They claimed they would inform the original investigator on my claim that I'm refuting the denial. Big deal! If the original investigator was too stupid to figure it out the first time, I'm guessing I'll get the same result.

At this point, I believe they're hoping to wear me down and get me to pay on the account, but they've got another thing coming! What kind of company would antagonize someone who's been victimized? I'd say it's a company that cares about the bottom line first before doing what's right.

I highly suggest to anyone reading this not to do business with any company without moral fiber.in my book, GE is one of those companies. Anyone who has had nothing but a positive experience with them, I say a company is only as good as how they handle bad situations. GE Financial has failed miserably in my case, and I'm almost certain there are others that have had an equally bad experience.
