Dont give them money we did

My husband and I had just been married and his mother called and told me a man called about a business matter. So i called him back it was an out of state number and he said my husband had wrote some bad checks several years a ago he needed to pay or he was gonna turn it over to the police. So we set up payment plans and sent him money via western union. My husband had already payed those checks off and got probation and it was over but we could not prove it because his ex-wife had thrown it all away when she moved. We wound up paying like 4 checks and had 2 or 3 more to pay but i gave birth so we had no money to pay and we never heard from him again and that was like 10 months a go. Please dont do what we did its a ripp off that cost us money.
