We had an account with Providan and it was turned over to Midland Credit and the Portfolio bought it. They demanded money but could not validate the debt. We were to take their word on it. At one point in the conversation the lady told me "that we would pay the debt or else she would continue to pull our credit report every 6 months so we would not be able to make a major purchase.
They charges me $1400.00 in interest in two months. What kind of finance charge is that? Also, she said by doing this, it would reage our credit as if it were a new debt. Apparently they hire these people that have little or no education and put them behind a desk and teach them how to dial a phone, because they don't have any idea about the law.
The law (FDCPA) says if they try and reage your account by updating the date of last activity on your credit report in hopes of keeping negative information on your account you can sue them. Let's file a class action and sue!!!
