Where can I begin when speaking about how Ameriquest took the home my father built in 1950 away from me and my family.
Let me begin by saying my husband Frederick and I worked hard all our lives to provide a safe home for our children. My husband Fred is a retired Providence Police Officer of 30 years, and I am a retired Medical technologist of 30 years.
We had our mortgage through Ameriquest. When I got sick, and had to have back surgery, Ameriquest told us they could "remodify" our mortgage. We said great! Sounded like a great idea under the cicumstances. They came to our house we signed papers and we THOUGHT all was well.
Here we go! Things were going downhill fast after that.
Ameriquest told us we needed to sign papers and fax them back ASAP. Ok we thought thats not hard to do. We recieved the papers filled them out sent them back, and waited... And waited... When we recieved no response we started calling... And calling... And finally we started speaking to a rep named Tiffany from Orange, Californa. Ok we thought we were getting somewhere now... Nope... SO we called and when we spoke to Tiffany which was rare she stated she never recieved the papers. So we kept getting copies and faxing them back and mailing them back. When we would call TIffany it was the same story. I decided to try to get in touch with a another rep a manager someone!!! When I spoke to other reps they said they couldnt do much Tiffany had our file and they couldnt do much without it. Ok, I had to go in for surgery in November. I got in touch with Tiffany finally, I asked if I could go into surgery with confidence that all was ok with my home. She said "everythings fine, your not loosing your house its ok" I went in for surgery to have rods put into my back.
February 22... I look out my picture window to see three men on MY lawn. When I confronted these men they let me know my house was being auctioned. I stood by helplessly as my home was taken right out from under my feet. When we confronted Ameriquest we were ignored and brushed off.
My husband and my daughter went to court to try to understand what happened and how long we had. We thought because of how the whole situation went down we had a chance for some kind of help.
The judge was kind. He told us we could stay in OUR home until July.
Needless to say we were out by July 1.
This past year has been a nightmare. Ive been judged harshly by my family. My daughter has been sick, along with myself and my husband. We
ALL put so much time and effort in to saving our home to no avail.
We had to let it go.
Ironically enough my husband and I recieved a letter in June from the Attorney General stating that all our pain suffering and embaressment is worth $773.00.
We were forced out of our home and thats the estimate on all that damage.
Let me tell you money is not going to make it all better, but that amount of money is just a giant slap in our faces!

Bottom line we are praying that we can get a class action suit together in Rhode Island. So far there are lawsuits against Ameriqest in 49 states. So far the only state to settle is Minnesota.
