Wells Fargo Bank, Inc
Made closing accounts extremely dificult in order to keep customers and keep earning interest money Ripoff

Business & Finance

I called Wells Fargo to have my account closed as I am now located ont he East Coast and Bank of America is better. Wells Fargo was charging me $2.00 transaction fees for ATM withdrawals and $20/Day overdraft fees. Since Wells Fargo wasn't located on the Eat Coast as far as branch offices are concerned I chose to close my account for the above reasons.

When I called Wells Fargo they stated I needed a "Zero Account Balance" in order to close my account. Now in order to accomplish this, I would need to know the EXACT ATM withdrawal fees and not have ANY cents in the account as fractional change cannot be withdrawn via the ATM. So, their ONLY solution was to obtain a NOTARIZED letter and have it sent in to close the account. I find it hard to believe that is the ONLY solution they could do to close my account over the phone. They never asked for personal info or the reason why I was closing my account so I feel their primary goal was to PREVENT ME from closing my account. I find this business tactic unprofessional and reccomend NOONE open an account with them. I have been a LOYAL member for over 10 years.in fact I kept my account open with money in it even when I opened my bank of america account.

The supervisor I spoke with did nothing to assist and gave me the run-around as well. Very poorly run company. Bad business, bad company. Stay away!
