Card, Prepaid Credit Card I have no idea how they accessed my checking acct. Withdrew $159.95 I never spoke with anyone nor did i visit their address

I never authorized money to be withdrawn from my checking account, but found today that they had. I tried to call the number the bank gave me, but I was on hold for an hour. I don't understand how they could do this. It is going to cost me $28 of my own money to have the check stopped. How in the world can companies do this? Please help.
