SPS is trying to foreclose and I can't refinance due to the derogatory credit. They're shady! Please HELP!

I am a mother of 3 and just wanted a place to call home for my kids. Unfortunately I suffered a 2 month miscarriage due to complications and medicines not working and I was off work for that period. I fell behind in my payments and kept calling SPS to update them and to see if they could help me work out something so that I could try to get caught up. They were no help at all and were also very rude. On 6/2/07 I received a Notice Of Default telling me that if I didnt't send the full amount in they were going to start foreclosure. I called them the same day to find out what options I had and they were very evasive when I would ask questions pertaining to my loan contract. They kept saying that they were not a mortgage company, they were just a collection agency collecting payments for the property. I also had an issue when I was going over my refi papers I had done in Aug. 06. My property taxes were supposed to be paid and now I find out through a loan agent that they were not paid, but it was itemized on my documents to be paid. No one can answer my questions ablout this. I don't want to lose the house or become homeless with my kids. I've tried to refinance with a lot of different lenders but no one will touch it with the late payments on my credit. Also I requested a payoff and I only am supposed to have a balance of 477,050.09 plus a prepay penalty which is ridiculously 18,498.43. When SPS took the loan the balance was a little over 478,000.00 now they're saying that the missed payments are calculated interest and now that's included in my payoff, which now totals 513,533.09. How is that when the loan originated at 478,000.00. Even the loan agent is confused and he did this refi. Someone please help me get away from these crooks and please if someone is out there who knows who can help me refinance, please contact me ASAP!
