Chase Bank
Credit Card Change due date payment amount no notification raise rate to 29.99% ripoff

I have had a Chase Bank credit card going on 10 years now, recently I was reviewing my automatic payment from my bank account to Chase and my online statement about a week before payment was normally due. My auto payment had already been sent sent but to my amazement my required payment had more than doubled and my payment was now due yesterday.
I though I had miss managed my bill pay account and mistakenly changed it at first and called to apologize and let them know my payment would be made immediately but after really looking into things the payment date and required payment had been changed by them, I had changed nothing, I was now being charged 29.99% interest, when calling back they sent me to a supervisor and he apologized but said he could only reduce the percentage a couple of percent, he couldn't reduce it back to the original special balnce transfer rate.
I explained that I had been a customer, and ontime and then some customer for nearly 10 years, didn't matter, told him I would be tranferring the funds out of the account, didn't matter.
So I immediatly transferred the funds to a different account, and actually got a better interest rate than before.
Unfortunately, not everyone one will be in the position to move the funds, infact, I just happened to have been in the right place at the right time to do this.
Chase Banks practices are criminal and something should be done, I will never charge on my Chase card again.
I do accept responsibility in that I should have reviewed my statement when it first became available online but I feel Chase knows that overtime people getinto a routine and begin to trust what is going to happen month to month, and without any specific notification of changes things like this will happen quite a bit. Of the hunreds of thousands, if not millions of customers that have Chse Bank Credit cards, can you imaginge how much they have made by this practice, even if only a small percentage of their customers failed to realize the change? It is theft plain and simple on a grand scale.
