Intuit
Quicken and the Banks

Business & Finance

Intuit has forced banking institutions, like Bank of Americanot to allow downloads for Quicken 2004 as they have been doing for quite some time, as of April 1st, supposedly, according to Bank of America, because of Intuit's copyrights. This "restriction" has effected all financial institutions, and in my non legal opinion, constitutes unjust enrichment and violates the implied and / or expressed warranties for fitness of purpose at time of sale.intuit does not advertise that their product will have a limited lifetime for the various utilities.

This has forced Quicken users to purchase upgrades to their software (and possibly operating systems), for no purpose other than line the pockets and up the stock price of the makers of Quicken.

Intuit has now restricted the use and utility of their software without informing the consumer that they are buying a limited use product, whose utility will expire in three years or less, BECAUSE Intuit has forced it by enjoining banks and other institutions to STOP PROVIDING the download support they have been giving to their clients using Quicken and is probably an anti-trust issue.

The financial institutions have gone along with this meekly, and in collusion without any visible complaint to authorities, and now will only provide downloads for Quicken 2005 and above. The banks have the software to provide 2004 format downloads, but don't. This is a viscious cycle which will be repeated next year..

This is a ripoff, possibly illegal, or should be, and Intuit should be sued because of it. The banks should also be held to task for going along with it.
