Without any warning whatsoever they garnished my checking account. The credit card account they garnished for was "closed and written off" by Providian

For the past several years I have had financial difficulties. I lost my job in June, and have not been able to pay all my bills. I kept recieving harassing, rude, and threatening phone calls at work, which was a contributing factor to being let go. The account in question (Providian) has been closed and written off by Providian. They had taken me to court and almost six months had passed since the court date. I recieved a letter from the Clerk of Court that said there had been no action on the case and that Palisades had to show good cause by June 5, why this case should be continued. I heard nothing from this company.

One day, when trying to use my debit card, I found out that a garnishment had been placed on my checking account for over $5000 (much more than what the actual balance should be) and that all my funds were frozen. I had never been notified that the garnishment was being processed. Every time I try to call I get transferred to "another department" and either get cut off or hung up on. No one will talk to me about trying to make arrangements to pay. Since the garnishment I am falling behind in even more bills because I can't get the money out to pay them. My family and I live on a very limited income... This is hurting us badly. I can't afford to pay them much, but I am willing to try; however, they make it very hard.
