What is the deal with the banks/credit card companies? What ever happened to customer service?

It seems everytime I have to call a bank/creditcard company I get nothing but grief from these people. I don't know why these big banks are so rude to their customers, its happened to me in the past and it happened to me again today.

I was seated at my desk paying my bills and I noticed on my Chase bank credit card bill there was a late fee of $29.00. I have had this problem in the past with this bank, charging me a late fee when they should not have. I have my own theroy on this i think that these banks on occasion stick a late fee in there to make some extra money, you do that to 10,000 customers and you have made some extra money for your corporation.

Well anyway, I called their toll free number and was very disappointed in the way the young man that recieved my call treated me. He was very cold, uncaring, snappy snotty responses, he had no suggestions, he didnt offer anyways to solve my problem, he treated me disrespectful.

When I tried to reason with him he would cut me off. I asked him at one point don't you have some sort of leeway time, he abrumptly said No! He said the payment must be in there possesion by the date due. I asked him "well how do we the customer know if you recieved it in time, what are our guarentees"? He replied "none".
The whole experience was frustrating to say the least. If he and the bank had any class at all and if they cared anything about their customers he would have just voided the $29.00 fee and made suggestions for me to follow.

These people at Chase bank credit card just dont care, its all about the money. This is a very disappointing bank credit card. The customers, the American people are being taken advantage of by these big banks, its not fair and theres nothing we can do about it.
