National City Bank
Overdraft rip-offs

Business & Finance

Okay, last Wednesday I used my debit card for 2 transactions. I only had $9 and some change in the bank. Both of these transactions totalled less than that. Friday my car payment of $70 came out of my account. I knew that one would cause an overdraft fee.

I check my balance today and they charged me 3 overdraft fees. One for the $70 and one for each of the other 2. Now by Friday these other 2 should have already cleared the bank. I called the customer service and was told that they pick and choose which transaction to process first and that the highest ones always go first, regardless of date.

Now since the other 2 transaction were done on a Wednesday how on earth were they not processed by Friday? How can they pick and choose which transactions to process first?
