Money hungry

I recieved my card in the mail the other day so excited, to get a card because my credit is not so hot. I called the 800# and they asked me a few questions, then it was asked if I had a checking account I said no, the lady said ok that's fine call this number 1 702 256-3000 so your activation won't run out, ok bye. She gave me no futher information on why I had to call that long distance number which is the same company with two different phone lines, I figure they have to get there money some kind of way and they want you to pay $99 for a each policy you want added.
