Asset Acceptance
Tries to charge me 60% more then i owe a creditor from over 6years ago thats just out right wrong what can i do? Ripoff

If Any one can hep me! I have some questions i recently received a summons and complaint from a company called asset acceptance. This company claims to be sueing me for a credit card that i had back in 2000. The amout that they are asking for is $1870.00. I retrevied my credit report in 2006 and it clearly states that my high balance is 750.00.

What i am trying to find out is can they still collect on a debt this old. The amount that they are asking is over double what i really owe. How do i contact the courts to solve this issue? Because i dont mind paying my owed fees but i refuse to pay over 60% MORE THEN I OWE.

I have tried to contact the original creditor which was providen financial but each time that account has been sold and i never heard of asset acceptance until i received this summons.
