Harrassed and damanded money for a debt over 8 years old ripoff

We were contacted by telephone from merchants credit guide co. The day after christmas 2006 that my husband owed over 3,200 dollars for a broken lease back in 1992. The amount was paid in full in 1998 (we have verification). Since then a demanding letter has arrived still saying we owe that amount, after finding all documents that it was paid I notified the BBB in Chicago and they said that within the last 36 months they have had 340 complaints towards this company. I believe a class action suit should be filed against them, or @ least have everyone on this site call the BBB and report them so they can be shut down.
