About 12 years ago this problem started with my credit. I was refinacing my home when I started being told I had several judgements against me, repposesstions, child support owed, ect... I went to my bank where I did have a car loan and asked them about the repo. They looked up the account number and lo and behold, it was not mine but a girl with the same first and last name, but a different middle initial. Here's the kicker... Our social security #'s are the same except for the two middle #'s are reversed!

So here is the deal, every time credit is reported, they either transpose the #'s, or figure someone else did and it ends up on my credit. I had almost perfect credit before all this. I can't tell you how many times I have received summons or arrest warrents, ect... I have made a police report, copied and sent everything I could possibly send to all of the agencies, called the Attorney General, (that's what the SS office told me to do) and tried to get my ssnuber changed. Nothing. The agencies sent me letters saying thank you "OTHER GIRLS NAME", we will take preventive messures. WTF? I think the other girl caught on to the mistake the way I did and decided to run with it. I can't get any kind of bank help at all when I want it.

What do you do? You explain it to creditors and they don't believe you. If anyone knows an attorney that would be willing to take on this case singly or class action suit (to hold them responsible for reporting accuratly) based on what they would get if they won, please email me.
