I recieve up to 10 phone calls a day from Credit Acceptance collectors!

I recieve up to ten calls a day from Credit Acceptance Corporation. I changed my cell phone number, however, the collectors then started calling my 80 year old mother-in law because she was listed as a reference on the loan application. I called Credit Acceptance and gave them my new phone number and instructed them not to call my mother-in law. I informed them that she had a record of the numerous phone calls made to her home. I also informed them that we would sue them if the phone calls to her home did not cease. Afterall, she did not borrow any money from them, I did.

The calls to my mother - in law have stopped. However, the calls to my cell phone are frequent. The collectors acting on behalf of Credit Acceptance block their phone number when they call. I called my cell phone service provider to put a block on unavailable phone numbers; however, I was informed that that was a service restricted to lan lines.

Oddly, the call frequency normally increases immediately after I make a payment. I admit I am one payment behind. However, I make a payment every month. The collector normally begins the conversation with "We appreciate your recent payment, but you are still a payment behind."

I've decided to send a certified letter to Credit Acceptance instructing them to stop calling me or any of my references, that were listed on my loan application.

If that does not work, I will seek the help of an attorney.
