These scam artists keep up the same ripoff: hundreds and hundreds of people have reported the same thing to usacomplaints.com, but these sleazeballs keep ripping us off.

In my case, I didn't apply for anything on-line, no loans, no debit cards, no credit cards, nothing, nada, zilch! All the signs are there: these are scammers, mining for data, stealing your identity (or buying it from whoever did steal it).

The standard check for $159.95 showed up in my account today, I tried EDP's toll-free number (put on hold, of course), then checked with my bank. The bank has agreed to treat it as a fraudulent charge, and reimburse the funds (along with any bounced check charges).

How to fix it:

1. Complain to your bank promptly! That's the key. You get your money back, and the scumbags and EDP won't get their money either! The bank won't like it, you'll probably spend a long time on hold to India, but do it right away!

2. Remember that any place that charges you a fee to apply for a debit card IS A FRAUD! Anyplace that charges you for a toll-free call IS A FRAUD! (Or pornography, just as evil)

3. File a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (FBI-Sponsored government website): http://www.ic3. Gov/
