Christ Life Embassy
CLE, Ripoff Currently under investigation by U.S. Secret Service

Business & Finance

I work for a law enforcement agency locally and I just finished takeing a report from a female pastor who gave $50,000 to this organization and has not heard back from them; she is aware of other pastors in the area who have also lost good sums of money to this company.in this case, the money was deposited in a local bank and then transferred to a Japanese account. The victim I met with this morning was contacted by the Secret Service and filled out a sworn statement so they can investigate.

Christ Life Embassy states they are affiliated with the United Nations's Missionary Commission. We can find no such branch of the UN. They do maintain their own website, www.christlife-embassy.org. There is little to no information on the site, such as an actual physical address. From the site, you can learn that people donate so CLE can do good works in areas of the world. There is no actual information which immediately makes it suspect.

Other clear signs that they are a sophisticated scam, other than that they steal money: The rebuttal placed on this web site is passed out by CLE themselves.

*On the letterhead ostensibly from the United Nations, the address and phone number are incorrect; the phone number belongs to the human rights dept. Of the UN.

*The prommissory note they offered was on UN Data Base Department, NY, letterhead. If there actually was a UN database department, which there is not, they would probably use the correct spelling of database. The note is signed by Nathalie Champion, the only reference of which is found not on the UN web site but the Nathalie Champion Institute of International Affairs, Italy.

*CLE presented the victim with a United Nations Diplomatic Passport. There is no such thing. Diplomatic passports are issued by country.

*CLE presented a letter on UN Ethics Committee letterhead signed by Abdallah Daar, Chief Press Secretary. There is no UN Ethics Committee, there is no UN press secretary per se (there is a spokesman for the Secretary-General) and although Abdallah Daar does exist, he's the on the board of the Joint Centre for Bioethics in Canada.

Again, this is all in addition to the fact they have taken tens of thousands of dollars and done nothing for it, which is fraud.

Beware of this organization, spread the word and if anyone in the CLE is reading this, you are on notice. The Secret Service is investigationg and you have been reported to the local authorities. Move on.
