Poor Service ripoff

I recently took out an equity loan, which I used to payoff two credit cards and my Wells Fargo auto loan. Both of my credit cards companies posted the check in just a few days, but for some reason the check I sent to Wells Fargo has disappeared in a sea of chaos.

Now I didn't do anything fancy. I just sent in the payoff check with a standard payment stub to the standard payment address. But after two weeks I wanted to call Customer Service to see what was taking so long.

First I was shocked after being told I sent it to the wrong address. Your not suppose to send payoff checks to the regular payment address. There's a special address for payoffs. The standard practice as explained to me by the Wells Fargo supervisor is if the regular payment office receives a check that appears to be a payoff check they will forward it on their payoff department located somewhere else. They don't have any contact with this other office and couldn't provide me with any way of contacting this mysterious office that handles payoffs. The Wells Fargo supervisor instructed me that it could take another week or two and I should be patient and wait.

It's been five weeks now and I'm still waiting. When I call them they say I should wait a little longer. At the same time Wells Fargo calls me calls everyday asking why they haven't received a payment. It's as if the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I had to laugh, today when they called they asked me verify my home phone number. Yeah! It's the same one you just dialed.

After getting know where with Wells Fargo Acceptance I decided to cancel the check and prepare to send a new one, but first I need to call them get this mysterious address to send my special payoff check to. Want to make sure I do it right this time. So I called Wells Fargo customer service again and asked for the payoff check address I was shock when she gave the same address where I sent the first check. It was the standard payment address.

I can't understand why it is so hard for a company to accept money sometimes. And even though I had a copy of the check no one at Wells Fargo could use the information on the check to help locate it. It was if it was lost in a sea of clerical chaos.

I will surely think twice before ever using Wells Fargo again for anything.
