Definatly a ripoff, billing for a credit card we never had, from a company out of busines in 1999

I'm not sure what we did to get our name on that "sucker list", these companies go after. Or if it's just new a rush in this old scam? We recived a letter dated 6/27/06 from this company claiming we owe $22,346.88? Maybe a credit card who knows, they wouldn't tell me? When I did a google on the company they claim to be collecting for it went defunked in 1999?

I would have found it funny but I'm still fighting another company from two years ago with a simular letter, on another suposed card I never had? It now shows on my credit report, and has been removed three times, they just keep reporting, and ignoring the validation letters? This new bill does not show on our reports, so I'm not giving them anything to go further with!

I did try to call Merchants Credit on the account, but as I refused to give them any personal info, they couldn't talk to me. Yea I sent the oblitory letter, demanding they validate the debt, and quite a few other choice words. I then for sheer pleasure continued to call their 888- toll free number multiple times "blocking mine!" to tell them they are jerks collecting for a company that is nothing but a rip-off scam!

One poor girl I got twice asked me, "why are you doing this?" My reply was if I had played into your rip off game, it would be you calling and anoying me, for the next few years! I managed to get hung up on and told off by a few of their employees. Beware of these and simular such companies, never give them anything valid. My husband just sugested giving them misleading info to see where they go with that? Guess thats what I do next
