Wells Fargo Bank
Refuses to Compensate $500 for an ATM Theft, and Acuses Me! Los Angeles

Business & Finance

Some criminals stole $500 from my personal checking account via ATMs backin May. They first deposited an EMPTY envelope for $200, took out $300, and then $200, each transaction at a different ATM location. All three transactions were done in an area I have never been to and far away from my turf.

I first found out because a transactio with my business check card did not go through. I called the customer service and was told that both personal and business check cards were cancelled by the branch. After that I sopke with a few customer service reps and the branch people but they kept ACUSING ME for "MISUSING" my card and could not exactly why they had to "CANCEL" both of my cards. Later, I found out about the irregular activities (the criminals did) and immediately filed the report with their "ATM Fraud Department."

To make a long story short, the result was "We cosider those transactions as AUTHORIZED" because I DID NOT LOSE MY CARD. I never lost my card or lended it to anyone. I don't live with anyone either. As I spoke with a "manager" at the department, he insisted that those are kind of transactions that requires the actual card and the PIN number. Since I had my card with me all time, IT HAS TO BE AUTHORIZED..., so he siad. He said he would retrieve the security photos and wanted me to look at them, but according to them, "They did not come out." All 3 locations???

I was just STUND by the whole thing and did not know what to say. The customer, ME, is saying that I DID NOT DO IT. And, I have never madeany ATM transaction in the area where the irregular activities occured and I was'nt even there that night.

In other words, they are saying that I MADE A DEPOSIT WITH AN EMPTY ENVELOPE ON PURPOSE TO WITHDROW MORE THAN I COULD. Of course, they would not stop charging me the large over draft fees, and said they would charge me OD fees when I asked them to stop some automatic payment arrangement, on top of $25/payee fee for the service. I have had the account for 13 years..., loyalty doesn't count these days, Ladies and Gentlemen.

I have been going through a hardship for a while, and my balances were low. Therefore, I have paid THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR OVERDRAFT FEES already. It was also extremely inconvenient not to have any check card when I had to deposit money as soon as I could because I did not have much in the accounts.

Another thing I was surprised by was how poorly they communicated and the customer service reps were trained. They did not know a thing! And on top of that, they were extremely rude..., to say the least.
