C. Barry & Associates
Collection Agency Ripoff Writing to Relatives

Business & Finance

I received a letter from C. Barry & Associates (a collection agency) stating that I owed MBNA $4800 and that if I didn't pay they would file suit within 10 days. I was not given an opportunity to dispute the claim which I do not acknowledge. The problem is they sent the same letter to me care of my relatives (5 so far) even though they live in different states. They can't claim they didn't know where I live because they sent one letter to me. They are just trying to embarass me into paying something I don't owe. This is in violation of Federal Law and if they are doing it to me, they are doing it to others and there should be a class action. One of the letters went to my 93 year old mother in law and she was so upset, she had to be hospitalized with high blood pressure. I am in Florida and don't have the funds to hire a NY Attorney which is where these low lifes are. Any ideas? I don't even know what the debt is for and have had identity theft problems in the past but I never even got a chance to tell them that before they started contacting third parties.
