Capitol One Bank - Total Debt Management - TSYS
Capitol One Total Debt Management - TSYS abusive collection practices ripoff

Business & Finance

This company employs abusive collection practices. Several months ago, I received a calls from a local number (unknown to me). When I answered, it was a computer automated message which instructed me to call an 800 number.

When I called them back to find out what it was about, they claimed to have an MCI debt with my name on it. I explained to them that I never had an MCI phone or account, so the debt was in error.

Their computer however kept calling me back and would leave a message if I didn't answer. So I called them back and told their representative that I was on the 'do-not-call' list. I also asked for their address (to send them a 'cease communications' letter). They refused to provide their address.

Since they do not leave their full company name on the automated recording, all I had was TDM Management. Complaints to the FCC, the FTC, the state district attorned, the local district attorney, and the local Better Business Bureau proved fruitless.

The Better Business Bureau told me that unless I had an address, they could not help me. Reverse number searches for the local number went to a BellSouth address, and a reverse number lookup on the 800 number went to a company in Mexico. This company had obviously covered their tracks well.

For a period of a couple months, the computer calls kept coming, growing steadily in frequency and at later and earlier hours during the day. Toward the end I was receiving a call each day, sometimes as late as 9 or 10 in the evening.

I imagine their strategy is to torture people into paying whatever amount they demand in order to stop receiving calls. As I pay for my cellphone by the minute, calling in to simply clear the message got expensive.

Finally I found a link on the web to their abbreviated name, and was able (through a ruse) to get their address to send a 'cease communications' letter.

These practices are abusive and should be stopped. Their local address is:

Total Debt Management 6356 Corley Rd NW, Atlanta, 30303 - (770) 446-9996

The office that does the computer calling is in Norcross, GA

2975 Breckinridge Blvd, Duluth, GA 30096.

They also go by the name of TSYS, and are apparently closely connected with Capitol One Bank and owned by Synovus Financial Corp.

Sincerely,

Eric
