Business & Finance

I was called by a woman stating that I was approved for a credit card with a $2000 credit limit to help rebuild my credit. After a recent bankruptcy, I thought that sounded like a great idea.

I was told that she just needed to make sure I had an active checking account. I asked if she was going to take any money out from it, and she said not unless I tell them to. She also said that in order to process my order for the card she would need $200. I said I wanted to mail them in a money order for that amount and she gave me the address.

On 4/24 they debited my checking account anyway. I was checking my balance online when I realized that. I'm going to my bank today, hoping I can get something fixed quickly. I am a single mom and cannot afford to lose $200 and gain no credit.

I also submitted a report to the BBB-so hopefully I'll get refunded by someone, and fast.

It sucks that there are so many dishonest people out there that take advantage of people with not so good credit. Why is this happening in America, the land of the free?
