Bank Of America
Ripoff after total loss for vehicle loan

Business & Finance

On my birthday in February I went shopping for a car and found the perfect one. After agreeing on a price with my local Infiniti dealer we proceeded to the finance office where, due to what was good credit we had no troubles getting a good rate for the car. The best rate coming from Bank of America. Things were working really well with the bank, I really liked the fact that I use them for my deposit accounts as well. One day in September I was in an accident in the vehicle and it was completely totalled.

I proceeded to make one more payment on the car even after it was totalled because I didn't want it to be late. This is when the trouble started. When I made that payment I advised the bank that the car was in the accident, I was told that the account would be noted and forwarded to that department. The next day I made a settlement with the insurance company and power of attorney for the vehicle was turned over to my insurance company. Meanwhile the bank turned back my payment and gave a payoff quote to the insurance company. I was on my way to getting a new car. After this was done I received a statement from the bank saying there was a balace due on the account for about $800. I called the bank to resolve this and was told that they would take care of it. The next month I got a statement saying there was a balance of $. 08. Once again I called they said they were playing with the account to disreguard any further statements at this point I was also told that all negative information would be removed from my credit report.

I stopped receiving communications from the bank until March when I recieved a statement requesting $600. I immediately called the bank where I was forwarded to the Total Loss department where THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY VEHICLE; also the department that told me that my vehicle was NOT A TOTAL LOSS! I told the lady on the phone I was going to begin recording our conversation at which point she indefinately put me on hold! Later in March I recieve a letter from one of the VP's of the consumer lending portion of the bank stating I owe them $300. To this day this issue is not resolved and my credit report is showing a sold 120 days past due! Any suggestions?
