Ripoff collection scare tactics

I received a phone message from a man Ken Hughes or Lewis, I'm not sure. He said it was urgent that I call his office on the 888 number although he called from 312-He is a collection agency, so he says. He demanded $3,154.00 from me claiming it's a Chase Manhattan loan I never paid.

He also had the last 4 digits of my SS#. He said it was an auto loan I never paid in 1985in Colorado. I didn't buy a car then! He said the actual amount was $1,924.50 but it was more because of interest accrued.

Warning Warning - I subsequently ran a credit report and they did do an inquiry on my report. So they know everything about us. My next step this evening is to formulate a letter to the attorney general.

If it wasn't for my daughter coming to this site, I would have probably fallen for this outrageous claim.
