Me and a friend got a hotel room. I put down my credit card for the $50 deposit and the other person put their name under the room and signed all other documents including a paper stating that if any other damages were done to the room then they would be reliable for them.
My credit card had a $650 limit and I was already at $600. Damages were done to the room by the person who put their name under the room and signed all the papers. There are police reports stating it. The damages came to $1250.
The police told me that he couldn't charge me with them, but he was threatening to do so. I called my credit card company and told them that I wanted to close that account becuase I feared that an unauthorized charge would try to take place. They closed that card account, but when the hotel manager tryed to push through the charge they let him.
This was $1200 over my limit! They credit card company told me that they let him push through the charges only because he had my credit card number. I was 18 at the timea and now I am 23. I have been paying on that charge ever since bacause I didn't know any different. 5 years i have paid on this debt that I don't owe and know I feel that I have paid what is due, but there is still an efficient amount of money sill due.
What can be done know. I'm still owe them $2000.
