Ripoff false debt collection harassing rude phone calls

I have recently been contacted by telephone Allied Interstate from the telephone number 866-235-3868. They left several messages asking me to "please call this company back at #..., but never any detailed message as to who they were and what they wanted. I called the number. After speaking to one very hostile and rude person, who put me on hold when I asked to speak to a supervisor (told there wasn't one) or someone else who wasn't rude like him, he transferring me and disconnected me, I immediately called back and spoke to Victor. (January 24 at approximately 6:00 pm Pacific Time) Victor was very apologetic regarding my previous encounter, and actually explained the reason for Allied Interstate's interest in me.

When we were discussing the reason that I was being sent to the collection agency, it came about that I have never to my knowledge had any dealings with THE GOOD COOK BOOK CLUB, yet I am apparently being sent to collections for a debt in the amount of $114.13 from this book club. I asked Victor for their address so that I may send a letter disputing this debt. I am also asking that I no longer be contacted by telephone, but instead through the postal service at my return address, as the phone calls continued every hour, on the hour for the next three hours AFTER I had already spoken to Victor. I have small children at home and work full-time. I do not need this intrusive harassment.

Further, I asked for some proof of this debt. A copy of any contract I signed with Allied Interstate or THE GOOD COOK BOOK CLUB is the proof I am looking for.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Shouldn't I have been contacted by postal mail?
