AT&T Universal Card
I really think this credit card company is a rip off

I hate this credit card company! About five years ago I had a AT&T UNIVERSAL CARD. I was pretty happy no yearly fee a good rate of 10% and a credit limit of $4500. For two years I never missed a payment always on time sometimes i paid more than the minium payment due. I also had great credit, but I work in the hotel business and things got real tight with 911 and the war in iraq. My husband and I had to move within a month of a home that we rented for over 8 years to many things to have to pay for we couldn't keep up things got real tight and I mean real tight.

I went over my credit limit by. 99 cents when AT&T universal card raised my intrest from 10% to 24% when I got my statment I thought what is this there is no reason for this I called them they told me they where sorry they will change it. Two months later the same thing from 10% to 24% I wasn't late on any of my other credit cards and had good credit still. Months had gone by and thing's got even harder to deal with. I joined a debt management program but after awhile I couldn't even made the debt payments. My rent and car payment where the first thing I needed to take care of, so I stopped the debt program. I would lose sleep thinking about all my bills I just couldn't take it any more.

So I stopped making the payments that's when the phone calls started at work and I mean they called over and over, sometimes twice in one day and yelled at my boss saying is jackie paying you to lie for her? This collection what ever they where was crazy these people thought it was a big joke. All these people did was make me feel like I wanted to die! I finally wrote a letter to AT&T universal card and told them of what happened and to stop calling my work I know my rights and these people have gone beyond there call of duty.

You don't call people at work and tell them I can't talk to you I have to work only for them to call back a minute later and start yelling and laughing at you on the phone. Well it has been three years since I have paid anything on this card now I got some papers in the mail from a legal attorny that I guess took over this debt and is trying to sue me, I also got a notice of property lien in the mail, I don't own the property that I live in I just rent, can he do this the credit card company has charged this off how can some a hole try to sue me when it has been over three years, I looked at the papers and they don't seem to be the real thing, I think that this guy is trying to scare me.

But I'm just made as hell. It said in the paper that he was going to take my bank accounts, first of all my checking account has my husbands name on it also, so this would be stealing someone elses money, this guy needs to check his self.
