Ripoff wrong credit reporting repossession reported after trade in

I traded my truck in in February of '05. When the dealership called for the payoff, they were given a figure, a payoff check was disbursed to CPS, and the dealership received the title, cleared lien, and confirmation of completed transaction in March '05. I also received my original, paid in full, sales receipt on March 18. As of September '05, CPS has reported my account as a repossession. But wait, they also reported that my payment was late for March, April, and May for 30,60, and 90 days respectively.

After getting much run around and a million different excuses and extensions of people who were "going to take care of this, " I found out that the "Vice President, " Jose Chavarin, is not a vice president at all, just a manager of something. They have said that yes it is a mistake, they don't know what happened, and the only way to resolve it would be to dispute all three credit bureaus because once it's out of their hands, they cannot fix it unless it is brought to the attention of the "fix it" department.

I have disputed the credit bureaus and am still waiting to hear back from them. I called today just to check on the status of this account and was transferred to the deficiency department. At this point I'm told I have the wrong department. Now I'm transferred back to customer service and they don't have an account for the number I gave them. I am given Jose Chavarin's 1800 number and extension.

Now I'm infuriated and have had enough, so I call my husband who then calls the number I got for Jose. He called and talked to Rene, who basically called my husband a liar, that Jose never impersonated a vice president and that the car dealership was in error for not paying off the loan in full. When he asked why then would they have sent us paid in full contracts and cleared titles, they didn't have an answer. When my husband became matter of fact with Rene, he refused to discuss the account any further because it was in my name, yet they had all this time.

I have now consulted an attorney. I have been denied credit based soley on a "repossession or foreclosure" on my credit report. This is the only way I knew to pull a copy of my report, because I knew I had neither. You can't just ruin someone's credit because it's a mistake, or because the company in Florida isn't talking to the company in California. You have to take accountability for your company's actions and the errors provided by your underlings.
